Have you ever delayed making a decision because you didn't feel ready?
Maybe you've been considering a career move, starting a business, pursuing a dream, or stepping into a new season of life. Deep down, you sense it's time to move forward, but you keep telling yourself, "I'll do it when I'm more confident," or "I'll start when I feel ready."
The problem is that readiness is often a moving target.
Many people assume confidence comes first and action comes second. In reality, confidence usually comes after we take action. If we wait until all fear disappears, all questions are answered, and all uncertainty is gone, we may stay stuck much longer than necessary.
The Bible is filled with ordinary people who didn't feel ready when God called them. Moses felt unqualified to lead Israel. Gideon doubted himself. Esther faced uncertainty about her future. Yet God used each of them because His plans were never dependent upon their confidence. His plans were dependent upon their willingness to trust Him.
2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds us, "For we walk by faith, not by sight." Faith means moving forward even when you don't have all the details. Faith is trusting God enough to take the next step, even when you cannot see the entire staircase.
One of the greatest barriers to progress is the fear of failure. We worry about making mistakes, disappointing others, or choosing the wrong path. But what if your fear is exaggerating the risk? What if God is more interested in your growth than your perfection?
Sometimes we think we need confidence before we start. Often, God says, "Start, and confidence will come."
Think about learning to ride a bike, drive a car, or begin a new job. Very few people felt completely ready on day one. Growth occurred because they were willing to begin before they felt fully prepared.
The same principle applies to your personal growth, relationships, career, and purpose. You don't need every answer right now. You simply need enough faith to take the next step God is placing before you.
Instead of asking, "Am I ready?" a better question might be, "Is God asking me to trust Him?"
The answer to that question can change everything.
